Borderbend Arts Collective
The Mingus Awareness Project is presented by the Borderbend Arts Collective, in partnership with other organizations (such as the Les Turner ALS Foundation). The Borderbend Arts Collective is a 501(c)(3) organization; our mission is to promote the arts by giving artists opportunities to collaborate and show their work to a variety of audiences. Poetry, music, performance, and the visual arts are no longer exclusive: hybrid forms and interarts collaborations can more effectively reach today's audiences. Borderbend programs encourage artists to use innovative technologies and strategies to engage with artists from communities in Chicago and around the world. Multi-venue musical performances, literary events, visual arts exhibitions, and interdisciplinary festivals reach beyond immediate cultural and aesthetic norms to bridge boundaries among participants, audiences, and art forms.
